Anchorage, Sumner's newest luxury apartment building is nearing completion
On Sumner’s waterfront, the curved balconies of "Anchorage" reflect the surrounding coastal setting. Behind the architecture is a story of trust, technical expertise and a team working together to move a complex development forward.
For Inovo, the relationship has grown alongside the project, bringing together our land development, civil engineering, surveying and project management expertise to support the Beachside team.
David Moylan, Director of Beachside Sumner, says that support has been important from the outset.
“It’s been a very complex project which wasn’t easy to get started. We depended a lot on Inovo to help us and guide us with their technical and professional expertise.”
Inovo's involvement began with the practical work needed to support the development, including basement car park remediation, enabling works and civil engineering design. It has since expanded to include contract administration, independent certification and tailored project and financial management services.
As the development has progressed, managing changes has been an important part of that work.
“One of our biggest ones has probably been the management of client variations,” David says. “We relied heavily on Inovo to help us manage this through that process.”
For Scott Hoare, Inovo Project Director, effective project management means looking ahead as well as keeping track of the work under way.
“I think it’s about the foresight to be able to remove roadblocks. It’s not just about assessing progress.”
Scott describes an approach focused on anticipating risks, putting measures in place to help avoid delays and rising costs, and finding practical, cost-effective solutions. For the developers, that technical support also creates space to step back and consider the project as a whole.
It’s a relationship built on continuity and an understanding of what the Beachside team wants to achieve.
“They know that we’ll have their back,” Scott says. “They know that we’ll be guiding them along through this journey and it’s not just about short-term gains, it’s around the whole development.”
